Illustrator Crashes When Copying - Illustrator 29.6.1 / Win 11

I’m experiencing an issue with Adobe Illustrator where I cannot copy anything. Both Ctrl+C and right-click > Copy cause the software to crash immediately. This has been happening repeatedly throughout the day.

Could you please advise on the cause and any possible solution? It’s really frustrating that Illustrator can’t handle such a basic function like copying without crashing.

Could you try installing the update and letting us know if it helps?

Is this happening on Windows?

Troubleshooted with IT and the only thing that worked for me was doing a full shutdown by holding the Shift key (windows) while shutting down. It no longer freezes.

Copy paste is not working in illustrator. 

Upadated version = 29.7.1

Please help me to fix the issue.

Thanks for reaching out. Could you confirm if Illustrator is crashing when you try to copy and paste or if it’s just that the shortcut isn't working? It would also help to know your OS version. In the meantime, please try testing this in Safe Mode to rule out third-party interference. Thaank you for your reply. Im using windows with up to date  updates. when im trying use the shorcuts its not working i mean ( ctrl+c or Ctrl+v or f)

Thanks for confirming the details. We've received reports that the latest Windows Defender security intelligence update (1.435.148.0) seems to have fixed this issue for several customers. Could you try installing that update and let me know if it resolves the problem for you as well? If you are already on the latest, please try updating your Illustrator to the latest 29.8 version and see if that helps.

Dear Abhishek Rao,

This is completely a software bug, and you need to accept this first. Even after updating the software, I am still facing the same problem. Due to this issue, I am unable to complete the orders within the timeline, which is causing our company to lose customers.

I hope you understand the situation and fix the issue immediately. We are spending good money to use this software, and I trust you are aware of that. If this were a computer issue, then why is everyone facing the same problem? Clearly, this is not a computer issue at all—you should admit it.

I am waiting for your reply. I did not expect this from #AdobeCommunity.

Could you please update Illustrator to the latest version 29.8.1 and confirm if the issue still occurs? If it does, I'd like you to try testing the behavior in Windows Safe Mode to rule out interference from any background processes: https://adobe.ly/3IDcBZg.

I'm sorry to hear you're still having trouble with this. Could you confirm if this happens when copying text to/from a specific application, so we can investigate further? Also, try running Illustrator after rebooting your computer in Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.
