Illustrator doesn't change fonts

Hello there. Came accross the problem: Illustrator doesn't change fonts, showing the text in default font every time. I can see the list of fonts, the preview of the text in this font, but when I click at the font, happens nothing — the text is in the default font 😕
It happens with every font, so the problem is most probably not in the particular font.

Using the latest version of Illustrator (28.1) on MacOS Sonoma 14.2

Does your computer have any other applications running at the same time as Illustrator? Is there a third party font management app installed?
