Illustrator doesn't open PDF

Hello!
Anyone has any idea why Adobe Illustrator suddenly stopped opening PDF files?
...any kind of PDF - even those created in AI. However Photoshop and Acrobat reader are opening these PDFs.
"An unknown error occurred" - this is the error message...

Dear Monika!

Thanks for answering. It is about CC 2018, I thing version 22.00.1.

I already uninstalled it and then install it again.

Now I discovered that isn’t able not even to create “new” documents : /

Any idea?

I have the same problem, but without the error message.

I've been saving PDFs with 'Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities' for years. Now when I do it, it's flattening the PDFs and not allowing editing at all. The PDF can just be imported. It has totally ruined some of my complex files and I've lost hours of work.

and now everything works.
