Images becoming blank

One of our users is having the following issue: 

I had to force quit my illustrator and when I reopened one of the files that was recovered, some of the images that were not rasterized are now showing up as blank. I've highlighted the area in blue where the images are now showing as blank.

Particularly with huge file, file recovery is a va banque option. You'd better have a backup than having to rely on the recovery.
