Import/convert FXG files

I have some archived FXG files and would love to import and convert them in one of the Creative Cloud apps, e.g., Illustrator 2022. Is there a trick that I'm missing? Even though FXG is listed as being a file format supported in Animate 2021, it doesn't appear to be so.

Hundreds! What version of Illustrator did you have success using? Please note that I'm on a Mac, running Big Sur (v11.2.3) and it looks like the oldest version of AI I can download is 25.4.1.

That was version CS5.

Later versions don't open the files.

You cannot install CS5 on your computer.

Will CS5 run on Windows 11?

I don't know. Not officially. If you try it, then compatibility mode or whatever that is called on Windows.
