Michael,

You should be able to get round the issue altogether without the legacy version (and its security implications), by following this:

http://oliverdowling.com.au/2014/03/28/java-se-8-on-mac-os-x/

It is even more thoroughly described in this thread, see post #3 on by gator soup:

Here are download sites for Java SE6 if you wish/must:

Win:

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase6-419409.html

Mac:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572

Some have found that the page may turn up blank to start with, so it may be necessary to reload the page.

Others have found that it may depend on browser. Specifically, a switch from Safari has solved it in one case.

not an option. Company work flow makes heavy use of Dropbox, OS update was required to continue to run.

Then look into the option by Oliver Dowling that Jacob references. You only need to make a couple of folders with the right names in the right places to fool AI into thinking you have the right Java installed.

The links that weren't functioning yesterday morning are up and running again. Problem solved.

Thank you for sharing, Francis, good to know; you could still use the newer (and presumably safer) version, by applying the other option, as mentioned by Larry.
