Before I update  my MacBook to OS X El Capitan, I want to make sure I'll be able to use Photoshop and Illustrator (CS6 - updating to CC is currently not an option for me). Thanks!

‌Is there any update on compatibility with El Capitan .3? In particular dreamweaver CS6. Ditto with everyone, i'm also extremely frustrated with paying for a license that is not supported. Thx

    ‌hi,

i waste around 2-3 hours a DAY just trying to make any Adobe app work on El Capitan. I didn't upgrade, Apple decided to give me a new computer due to the amount of problems my previous one had given me and it came already with El Capitan. I need to be able to work. Any idea if I can revert or what to do to make my CS6 work smoothly on El Capitan?

If you have El Capitan and are wasting this much time, then give up on trying to get old and unsupported software working, and join the subscription scheme. Or find an alternative. Or an older Mac and freeze EVERYTHING (best not to connect to the internet though).

    Hello,

Michael form Belgium here. Running an architecture firm. We decided the only thing that we can decide. Stop using adobe software and start looking to the future.

And for now that is affinity software. Need the publisher fast and hoping it will be good. I read that affinity photo is at the level off CS4 - more then good enough for us.

Played with affinity designer for 1 day... missing some key feature... but everything is better then starting with that subscription model.

Simple. XXXX adobe. There are history. An we - as users - have to make that happen. Stop using that crap and just start working in the future.

If we start putting al this energy in learning new software as affinity, isstead of this pure wast of time and energy.

Because it is not CS6 that EOL... it's ADOBE itself that is EOL.

I am using CS6  and Clip Studio Pro and El Capitan pretty much broke the drawing features in both programs (as in lagging is so slow s to make the apps unusable). I applied third party fixes to both but still had major issues so I reinstalled Mountain Lion and that cleared up the problem. I have more of issue with Apple as I can't count on them anymore to release reliable upgrades (or reliable motherboards and optical drives for that matter).  As to Adobe and CC many of my colleagues in the entertainment industry are moving to Clip Studio, Inkscape, and others because were' pretty disgusted with the the whole CC rip off model.

You are so right. I also downgraded two steps to OS 10.9 where things still worked out. CC is no option because of the subscription model. Right now I am testing the Affinity programs in case I have to upgrade the OS in the future. IF Adobe only had not changed to the CC model I would have bought every second upgrade as a good boy does.

There's really no reason to continue with either Apple or Adobe as their cost to benefit ratio has dropped so low in terms of quality and customer service.

This has been a pain in my butt since El Capitan was released. As soon as I installed the upgrade (Adobe had not posted their "don't upgrade to El Capitan" blog post yet), Audition CS6 refused to open. I'd get the start of the splash screen, then it would simply crash.

I restored from a system backup (less than one week old, fortunately!) to go back to Yosemite, and all was fine.

Apple released the El Capitan 10.11.1 update, and Adobe proclaimed the problems over. I installed the El Capitan 10.11.1 upgrade. NO DIFFERENCE: Audition would show me the start of the splash screen, then crash.

I restored from a newer system backup to go back to Yosemite, and all was fine.

Then it occurred to me that—DUH—I still had my old MacBook Pro, which I rarely use anymore. After making sure there wasn't anything on it I desperately needed, I restarted from a backup, wiped the MacBook Pro's hard drive, and did a clean install of El Capitan. Then I installed CS6.

This time, Audition opened without a hitch. I loaded a file. I was able to work on it with no problems.

BINGO! A fresh install is the answer!

However, I have had too much going on as of late to go to all the trouble of doing this on my iMac. Then someone suggested that I create a small partition for the sole purpose of testing El Capitan. Why did I not think of that myself, I asked.

I got around to doing just that this afternoon. I created the partition, installed El Capitan (now up to 10.11.2), then installed Audition CS6.

This time, Audition opened without a hitch. I loaded a file. Fine, just fine.

Of course, the question now is whether simply updating my original Yosemite partition to El Capitan 10.11.2 will work, or if I should find the time to do that clean install. Or, do I just keep that El Capitan partition and use that when I want to run Audition? Decisions, decisions, decisions.

In any event, from my experience, it appears that a clean install of El Capitan, followed by re-installing CS6, is the most reliable way to ensure that the CS6 programs will function properly under that version of the Mac OS…

    Hi all,

A bit of background before I ask my questions.

I bought a CS6 Master Collection boxed software last year. I was lucky to find a copy. I'm an amateur photographer, professional graphic designer (but I don't freelance anymore) and will start looking into videography as a hobby. Hence I don't want to be locked into a subscription.

The new El Capitan is intriguing. That's why I started researching to see if it will break the CS6.

From what I read in this thread, CS6 work for some people after El Capitan upgrade, especially Java is upgraded at the same time. But for most people, CS6 encounter performance issues.

The latest Java is probably used in El Capitan but CS6 is a older software, probably isn't compatible with the latest Java. Do you guys think it is the Java upgrade related?

I do agree with everyone that Adobe isn't doing its part to reward loyal customers. Many of us have spent a lot of money buying their software. I also find it really hard to bite the bullet and get into subscription because it will cost a lot more in long term.

I am happy with the CS6, since it is a hobby now (I use CC at work). I am really curious to whether my late-2013 MBP will perform well in El Capital. But if it will risk breaking my CS6 workflow, I won't upgrade at all. But I wouldn't know until I try, right?

Second question - I have a bootable Yosemite USB I created. If El Capital cause CS6 performance issues, can I revert back to Yosemite?

    Thanks in advance.

On my MacBook Pro 2011, installed El Capitan a few days ago and my Photoshop CS6 hangs at loading presets, so it's definitely broken on my machine. Bought the app 2 years ago. Oddly, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Illustrator do work. Of course I use Photoshop more than any other design app.  Stuck waiting on a solution that doesn't involve downgrading the OS.

    Got CS6 running....s l o w l y...

Fonts are not activating now. We use Extensis Universal Type Server.

The only way I got fonts to load was placing locally in Library/fonts.

......sort of defeats the purpose of using font management.

Anyone having font related issues CS6/10.11?

The El Capitan upgrade crashed my (Macbook Pro) system, forced me to buy another system, won't access my previous creative suites and deleted all of my app licenses while being migrated. Neither Apple or Adobe will take liability and have left me without any creative applications. My business has suffered greatly and put me in financial hearthship. This upgrade sucks!!! Everyone at Apple or Adobe says "Sorry, you're on your own". I lost over $2,000.00 in applications. The upgrade only works on newer model Macs. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! I ACTUALLY THINK THE NEW UPGRADE IS A MARKETING GIMMICK TO FORCE USERS OF OLDER OS/OPERATING SYSTEMS TO UPGRADE. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I am spending more time trying to fix Adobe Indesign than I am keeping up with my business. I have serious problems with adobe and do not think they even care about us folks trying to use their desktop product since subscriptions started. It's like we are invisible. I hope someone comes up with a program to take them on. In meantime I will keep troubleshooting my problems of disappearing font menus, type that disappears in a text box and I have to select all and make it black to get it back! Adobe...WHERE ARE YOU!!

I've been thinking about this a lot.  New features should not be available to people with older versions of the Creative Suite, but obvious bugs, like the plug-in and saving crashes in Illustrator should be fixed.

I keep get a message that, "QuickTime and a decompressor are needed to see this picture," and I did move the two files out of the unused folder in the library.  This is one I still need a work-around for.  I have to open the photos in InDesign or Photoshop and then move them over to Illustrator, which is quite a waste of time.

Is interesting how Adobe chooses to ignore everyone here and this problem.  No one from Adobe has posted anything here.  They don't even try to help.  I guess customers don't mean much to Adobe nowadays.

    Very disappointing!

Illustrator does not work for me and asks for Java 6.  Indesign is working fine.  Adobe needs to support its products better.  Live Chat is useless.

    Folks,

Don't let this discourage you.  Now is the time to move to other Non-Adobe software.  Don't fall into the monthly payment trap.

I cannot see much changing until Apps start developing, Serif's Affinity Photo is establishing itself as a decent alternative to photoshop and illustrator is beginning to get some competition unless you are a dedicated illustrator. There is Quark Express but they are just as likely to dump on you, but at least they are not subscription which is good, but their support is zero. So that's why we are here. But change can happen really fast as Quark found out.

Yes, Serif's Affinity Photo is brilliant.  I also like Corel PaintShop Pro.

I also like Serif's Affinity Designer as an alternative to Illustrator.  It keeps getting better and NO MONTHY PAYMENTS.
