I have a document with over 100 layers in it ...which is pretty normal for what we do and Illustrator in CS6 has a big issue with the layer palette .....as you scroll down the palette the layer names disappear ...as you run the mouse over the layers they re-appear and then disappear again ...this issue makes the software useless as I can't see the layers  .....this happens on all the documents I've been working on ....anybody getting the same thing and anybody go any ideas of how to fix this or is it Adobe's issue?

I know I'm late to the party on this after almost three years. but I have just fixed the issue on my computer.

I'm running CS6 on OS X Yosemite with a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014).

Layers pallets were showing up blank. I tried cleaning font caches, repairing permissions, threw out illustrator preferences, restarted computer after each of the first two. None of these solutions worked. I have too many apps to try uninstalling random apps to see if that helped the problem.

A coworker said that Verdana was the issue and fix at her previous job. She said the make sure Verdana was loaded. I had Verdana loaded already so didn't think that was it, but as I looked further I realized that Verdana was loaded in two different places!:

Hard Drive > System > Library > Fonts

Hard Drive > Library > Fonts

I removed them from the second path, restarted and all was good again. Pallets are back to normal.

I hope this helps anyone perusing this thread for the same issue.

Wow fixed easily! Must be a bug in CS6 and the newer Mac OS.

We use the Verdana font so removal is not possible. Cleaning the font cache did the trick temporarily....however, was a step that is not necessary.

Seems to happen on received customer files when they select a dieline layer to not print.

Double clicking of the layer and selecting print box, magically makes all layers appear!

Thanks!

A bug for sure....Unfortunately Adobe has left us for their Cloud....

I've had this issue often, especially with converted files (older versions of Illustrator saving as newer versions of Illustrator).

The fix that has always worked for me is to be sure the Layer Panel/Palette option "Paste Remembers Layers" is checked, Select All in the corrupt file, create a new Illustrator document, and Paste into the new document.

Viola!
