layers & stuck in opacity mask layer CS6

Hi,

I have two layers. Upper most with text is locked.

Bottom layer is an image I have applied a transparency/gradient mask for the raster image. Now, seems my layers palette is stuck in a mode called 'Layers (Opacity Mask)'.

Not seen this before, but this is CS6. How do I get out to the main, root level of the layers palette?

In the Transparency Panel, select the left icon to edit the art.

You have selected the right icon (to edit the Opacity mask)

Thanks i tought i would never get out!
It's not obvious what steps you are supposed to take, if you happen to close the transparency window while in this mode you might as well reinstall the program.

It still wont let me out of the damn mask mode. After having to sift through forums just to find the supposed fix to something that should be as easy as hitting one key like ESC and the damn thing still wont work im ready to jump off of a building. Who at adobe is responsible for this crime against humanity? Sometimes you feel the years that these programs have baked into them. Im not trying to send a rocket to space for gods sake

If a simple click on the left icon does not get you out of opacity mask mode, can you share some screendumps (or even the problem file)?

You're right. The UX is so unintuituve that I somehow found my way out once, then wasn't able to do it again. Even walking your way out can't teach you the way out! (:sobbing:)

Nunca se me ocurrió volver a pinchar el icono de la izquierda. También perdí mucho tiempo tratando de salir del modo máscara de opacidad hasta que tuve que recurrir a google. Gracias.

I was stuck for like 15 minutes... couldn't get out of mask mode.  Thanks for the tip.

I couldn't find the left icon @Ton Frederiks referred to for ages in the Transparency Panel, in AI CC. But if it helps I literally just copied the masked image, deleted it and then pasted it again and it took me out of the Layers (Opacity) panel 🙂
