Hi,
Apologies for the inconvenience caused to you due to the "File Open-Save-Export" issue in Illustrator after macOS Catalina release. We have tried to address this issue in the beta build which you can download from https://www.adobeprerelease.com
Please check this UserVoice discussion for more details and steps to get the build: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/38772067-can-t-save-fil...
Thanks,
Om

I am having a problem with copy pasting Smart Objects from Illustrator to Photoshop, once they're on Photoshop i can't open them on Illustrator again. Does downloading this version fix this issue? Cause its been 2 weeks of unreliable work.

Getting the prerelease cant be the right solution. Cant we have a patch for the issue alone?

Literally no one is replying to us about this. ever since the foresaken day of updating mac to Catalina and Adobe to their latest version it's been a trainwreck, i've posted 3 times on the board and no solutions were offered. Right now Photoshop, Illustrator and AfterEffects are unreliable to work with and still no solution, no reply from them.
This is a catastrophe that all our work depends on their unreliability at this point.

PS seems to be working fine. Havent testet AE yet. AI still bugging (event after installing the prerelease). sigh.

- Smart Objects once pasted in Photoshop from Illustrator arent opening again in illustrator.
- Illustrator not having access to Library, instead created a folder of thousands of AI deemed "Smart Objects"
- After Effects not opening any version before CC19, basically all the AE work up until the update last week stopped opening.

Just found out that if I save as another file format - eg. EPS - I am able to save the project again as AI. And paste to PS. (this is the prerelease).
Wont help you in AE though.

the issues are quite fundemental, i don't believe this is a solution - they need to be addressed collectively. I have no idea how designers around the world are managing their work right now. Like I have no idea if i'll ever be able to open my older AE files again, or if Photoshop and Illustrator will connect to each other again. I believe Adobe should clarify the new work method, in case their latest update is irreversible to the way we're used to working. We need to know what we do at this point. And the very least is they should reply to us individually.

Nono - I completely agree. This isnt a solution! Merely a workaround..

1. Go to Edit > Adobe PDF Presets
2. Check PDF compatibility of PDF presets that are not default
3. Make a note of presets that use PDF compatibility version 1.3
4. Quit Illustrator
5. Navigate to user presets folder
Win: appdata\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe PDF/Settings
6. Move the presets identified in step 3 out of this folder
7. Launch Illustrator and check if you can save the document
Worked.

I think we might be having different issues. My Illustrator is saving normally, and i can access the files. The problem is that when i copy paste a Smart Object into Photoshop it doesn't work.. Photoshop is connected to my Cloud Library, but Illustrator isn't..

Hi all,
Sorry about the delay in response. This issue was initially fixed in the beta and eventually in 24.0. The UserVoice link mentioned by Kim is a different issue and we are working on it. We'll update the UserVoice discussion as well as this one accordingly.
Thanks,
Om
