Hello,
I'm trying to do a minus front with these lines. I'm looking to cut the triangle shape out of the lines, leaving behind red lines in the shape of the triangle. I've created outlines for the strokes, but when I try to minus-front, only the bottom stroke remain (see below).
Anyone know how to make this work?

Use base shapes like these:
Pathfinder panel: Outline
You can then select what you don't need by color.
Then draw two vertical lines at the sides and use the shapebuilder tool to cut off the sides thus opening the paths.

Select all the lines.
Object > Compound Path > Make

Thank you very much for your help! This worked.

I would go with @Monika Gause 's approach.. and if you don't want to redraw your strokes as rectangles I would recommend select them all and outline them so they turn into shapes.
