my drop shadow on my font disappears when I put it on the page.

I'm having trouble with drop shadows that was placed on text (done through Effect>Illustrator Effects>Stylize>Drop Shadows). If I drop shadow a font and put it on the page even though it is the top layer the drop shodow disappears once pulled onto the page. you can see tthee green D down botttom left with the font dropshadow working off the side but disappearing on the page itself. any ideas. i restarted illustrator but the problem persists. please advise.

Change the drop shadow color, it's probably only tints of black.

Check the "Mode" in the drop shadow options menu. If it's set to multiply or something like that, it won't show up on a black background. If it is, set it to "normal".
