My files not auto saved on illustrator

I was working on my final project in the Illustrator application two weeks ago. Today, when I opened my file, I noticed that only the beginning of my project was saved, and despite taking a backup, the file disappeared. It feels like my final project suddenly vanished. I pay to use Illustrator to enhance my skills, and is this really happening?

That's what bugs me the most, I started using Adobe products since Cs5 came out. They had very good reputation before and worked flawlessly when i started using them, but since they changed to a subscription model the program has been going downhill and FAST! there's a big world wide organization that has a list of recommended programs and my brother was telling me they DON'T recommend Adobe products. That's crazy, how can you take the best program for years and destroy it bit by bit with every update? I feel scammed, I was paying premium price for a premium program, now the recommended program costs a one time payment just over what I pay for one month of Adobe. What's going on? I think they fired the expensive programmers and hired people on fiverr.
