Hey everyone, I’m facing an issue where hyperlinks (text or objects) I’ve added in Illustrator aren't working when I export to PDF. The links aren’t clickable after saving. Has anyone encountered this or know a fix? Any help is appreciated!

I have tried from attributes and pasted the directly. Both shows the same result

When saving the PDF, which options do you check?

Also: does the PDF viewer you are using, support links?

Hello @connor_3126,

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you're having with hyperlinks. Could you share more details about how you are placing your links in Illustrator, the export settings used for PDF, and the application where you are viewing this PDF, so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I'm having the same problem. It randomly started happening in in July on the same documents I have been successfully exporting previously.

I have an object with an attribute which has a hyperlink.
Then if I either save the doc and as PDF or export the doc as a PDF (still selecting to preserve hyerlinks) it is not working. The same documents with the same hyperlinks were working last month using this method.

Hello @defaultvob2nqx5y671,

I'm sorry to hear you're encountering similar problems when exporting from Illustrator. Could you share more details, like the version of Illustrator installed, the export settings used, if this happens with all files, and the application where you're viewing this PDF, so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I'm using 29.6 now. I uninstalled the update because I thought that was the
problem.
This was the version of Illustrator that I have been successfully exporting
from for months with the same documents.
My process is:
When I go to *Save a copy* as I select the *PDF *option. Then I save with
the following selections:

I have also tested selecting multiple of the other options and layering the
hyperlinked object on top.
I am using the explorer browser to open the PDF, but it also doesn't work
if I export directly to the google workspace and open using google. Acrobat
also doesn't work.
Thanks!

Hi @defaultvob2nqx5y671,

Thanks for jumping in and sharing the steps you're following.

Since you've already tried different export settings and rolled back Illustrator, could you confirm if things started working again after reverting to the previous version? It would also be helpful to try creating a fresh test file with a simple hyperlink and export that to PDF to see if the issue still appears. That'll help us determine whether it's file-specific or something more widespread.

If possible, please share one of the affected .ai files for testing. If it's confidential, feel free to send it via DM on the community.

Let me know what you find.

Looking forward to your update.
Abhishek
