I have looked at countless posts and tried pretty much everything I can think of to fix this issue. I am creating a model and using a glowforge laser cutter to make it. The issue I keep having is when I export my files they appear much smaller then the original size. I have checked my measurements several times and I have tried clicking unresponsive, changing to embed, link, or preserve, changing the artboard size, fitting the artboard to the artwork, etc. I can't seem to find the problem. I am newer to adobe Illustrator and I'm definitely new to glowforge machines, so I'm sure this is a simple issue that I'm just misunderstanding, but any input or help would be appreciated.

Which unit are you using for your file?
Possibly the translation from mm to whatever your plotter used does not work.
Also there could be a misconception of resolution and the translation. Illustrator assumes that things are 72 ppi. But some devices convert measurements by assuming it's 96 ppi.

I'm using inches for the artboard and the designs. I'm not sure about the ppi. I know I can attach a file in the comment box if that would help. I can add one, but I have several files.

The ppi in this case is nothing you can set up. Here is a longer thread: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/svg-is-being-resized-when-saved-from-illustra...

Thank you for your help but I tried every solution in this thread and nothing worked. Thank you anyway.

You're exporting SVGs for this?
Can you share one here, along with details of the size Glowforge thinks it is?

Here is a file link if this dosen't work I can attach it a different way. The height is printing on glowforge as 4.5 in rather than 6in. The width is printing on glowforge as 3 1/16in rather than 4.125in.

The link I attached is the original illustrator artwork not the exported svg with the wrong sizes. This may be the wrong type of link that you asked for. If so please let me know so I can attach the correct link. Thank you so much for your input and help.

So it's 432 pixels high. In Illustrator, this is displayed at 72 PPI (so 6 inches). Glowforge is using 96 PPI (432/96 = 4.5).
Can you share the actual exported SVG? What you've shared is a review link -- I can't access the file from it.
Specifically, does it have a width/height in SVG attributes in the header? This file for example displays correctly as 6 inches in PowerPoint, which is set to 96 PPI:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<svg id="Layer_1" data-name="Layer 1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="6in" height="6in" viewBox="0 0 432 432">
<defs>
<style>
.cls-1 {
fill: #000;
stroke-width: 0px;
}
</style>
</defs>
<circle class="cls-1" cx="216" cy="216" r="216"/>
</svg>

I have also tried on several other files to edit the code but nothing has seemed to work.

Have you tried saving the SVG files in different flavors of the format, such as SVG Tiny 1.1? I ran into issues not too long ago using the stock settings for saving SVG files (doing vinyl cut-only jobs using Onyx Thrive). Changing from regular SVG to SVG Tiny helped in that specific case.

Thank you for your help. How would I go about changing to the tiny svg format?

In the Save As dialog box usually when you choose SVG in the file format drop down menu and click OK it should bring up a "SVG Options" dialog box. That's where that SVG Profile can be chosen (such as regular SVG or SVG Tiny, different version numbers, etc). The dialog box also has additional advanced options for other settings.

For the save as dialog box do you mean save as template. When I click the regular save as the only thing that comes up is save to cloud or computer.

Whenever I use the "Save As" command and choose SVG I always see a large SVG Options dialog box. The "Export As" command brings up a smaller SVG dialog box with seemingly fewer options.
I can't seem to find a setting in the current version of Illustrator to force the SVG Options dialog box to show itself if it isn't making itself visible in a Save As operation. There isn't a "show options" button when choosing SVG in the Save As dialog box. The Preferences dialog box doesn't have a setting there either.
