Need to cut this shape out of a watercolor path

Community Beginner ,

I cannot seem to cut this out no matter what I do, I have done all of the pathfinders, I have tried divide objects below and none work. I Have created it into a path from brushes.

I want the dragonfly to be that watercolor in that same color just cut out and clean.

Draw an extra path on top (see mine in red stroke), then unite until you get one shape for the dragonbfly.

This is an issue with the lack iof a proper compound path as you have multiple paths. SInce I don't have access to your file, is safer to make one path, rather than to attempt to fix your compound path adn zero winding rules and such.

Fill the dragonfly path with any colorfor example balck. This will helkp you proof that the mask is good.

Then select the balck fill (your mask), and the background, adn mask.

The black fill will disapear adn you iwl have the resutl you need.

As MikeG stated, create a mask.

1. Create the dragonfly as multple shapes (Mask always top)

2. Object>Compound Path>Make

4. Object>Clipping Path>Make
