The lines look like they are connected to that design. When you delete those anchor points after selecting them with the direct selection tool, you will open the paths. Since this also looks like compound paths are in it, this might completely ruin the composition.
If you select them and then do not just hit the delete key, but instead press the delete anchor points button in the control panel, then you do not open the paths, which might be better for the design.

Can you also show the full design without activating the outline mode so we see the context? Do all those lines converge in a single point on the bottom left? If so, make a copy of the design first switch to the Direct Select Tool (shortcut A) and try to marquee select that point where all the lines converge, then hit delete. This should clear up a lot. But it could also damage the design. Worth trying though.

What lines do you want to delete?
If it's all the ones outside the main shape you could use your direct selection arrow (white) and click and drag over then and delete. It all depends on how the artwork has been created though, so without having the file to play with is a little hard to be precise.

Thank you @Monika Gause, totally forgot about the Remove Anchor Point Button, definitely the better solution than deleting the anchor point!
