No Application Support folder for Illustrator

I've had so much trouble changing the default Illustrator font that I wish Myriad Pro was never created. Trying to follow Adobe's own directions ((macOS)Macintosh HD > User > [username] > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Illustrator [version number] > [Language folder] > New Document Profiles) hasn't helped a bit.

In my Application Support > Adobe > there is no Illustrator folder at all. Only folders for Photoshop and InDesign.

Can someone please help me get rid of Myriad Pro forever? I've followed so many tutorials, my eyes hurt.

Apple hides your user folder from you.

Press Alt and then use "Go To" in the menu in the Finder. Choose "Library". That's your user library.

There is another way to add a New Document Profile;

Create a New Document of the kind and size you normally use.

Go to  Window > Type > Character Styles

Double click the [Normal Character Style] and change the font to the font you want as a default for those kind of documents.

Save the file on your desktop and give it a recognizable name.

Open the Illustrator application folder and browse to the New Documents Profile folder of your language.

Drag the file into the folder, you may need an admin password to do that.

Restart Illustrator and select the just created New Document Profile (I set the Preferences to "Use Legacy File New interface" to make it easier to find)

Thank you greatly, for that. Why isn't this explanation readily available? I couldn't find this trick anywhere. Illustrator used to be more user-friendly.

On another hand, is there a reason that Rulers don't come with this new document? Is there another trick to having rulers already running? (I mean, instead of having to always punch Command R for each new document)

I appreciate the help, in any case.

You can get the rulers to be there if they are activated in the replacement New Document Profile that you are saving.

If the document that you copied to the Illustrator apllications folder had the rulers visible, they will be visible when you create a new document based on that.

But there is a problem when the document did not have the rulers on and you later try to replace it by a document that has the rulers on. That does not seem to work.

What happens is that the document you put in the applications folder gets automatically copied to the application support folder and is used when creating new documents.

You need to remove the preset from the application support folder as well as from the application folder and replace it by the document that has rulers.

It is a messy workflow and that may explain your other question and remark: "Why isn't this explanation readily available? I couldn't find this trick anywhere. Illustrator used to be more user-friendly."

Make sure you are looking in ~/Library/Application support, and not in /Library/Application Support. Common error.
