I just realized that the special marks / em/en dash / spacing options were reorganized, but I can't find the option »non-breaking space« anymore? I must admit that I usually work with a German UI but changed it to English recently.
Am I missing something or did Adobe get rid of this option?
Hello @wnwka,
Could you try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (macOS) and check if it helps?
If the problem persists, please share the system report (https://adobe.ly/41VSVqh) and confirm the Default Install Language set under Creative Cloud Desktop > Preferences > Apps so I can check it with the team.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

That's the one I would usually use... However, it does not exist in the English Versionof the app (?) and I can't re-install the app right now as I'm working on stuff. (Unfortunately, switching languages in Adobe apps is a little bit of a hustle because you can't switch language without re-installing the app).

Booted up my English system: Type > Insert Whitespace Character > Non-breaking space.

Thank you for the reply. I'm relieved you confirm this is not usual and the function still exists.
There's only one Admin account, it's the one I'm using.
Default Install Language is English (International)
<rant> I'll update the app when workload is not high because as we'all know, updating these apps can be a burden and can do more harm than good. </rant>

In your screenshot there is a menu item called "Retype (Beta)" in the Type menu.
This indicates that you are not using the latest Illustrator version (29.3). That's why you don't have the Non-breaking Space command.

You're saying they disabled it for one version just to enable it in the next? 🙂
It's not a new function, I've used it before for years. It's more likely a bug.

Older Illustrator versions only have the "No Break" command in the Character panel flyout menu.
