Not enough memory - Illustrator on Windows

Hello, after massive GPU perforamce issues with Illustartor where the program basically did not recognize my NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphic card which affected simple 3D rendering tasks, I kind of found a workaround. Now I'm facing memory issues while 3D inflating designs, that shouldn't be that complex. For the record I have 64GB RAM on my laptop.    I have the feeling Illustrator wasn't developed to properly utilize or recognize memory and graphic cards on PC. Can someone please help with this memory issue? Thanks

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I assume you have a Windows computer. Would you mind confirming if you have GPU performance enabled in Illustrator? Is the driver for your RTX 4060 up to date and are you using the Game Ready Driver or Studio Driver? Make sure drivers for other components in your notebook are up to date.

3D rendering can be pretty demanding even if the objects are fairly simple in nature. Some of this depends on the resolution settings for the render.

Another very important thing when doing demanding tasks: make sure the notebook is plugged into AC power and not running off the battery. Lots of graphics acceleration features may get turned off in a notebook if it is running on battery power. It may even switch from using the dedicated RTX 4060 card to using a less powerful integrated chip on the motherboard.

Yeah I've updated all drivers possible and I'm using the Studio driver. (also up to date)

Thanks for the tip about the AC power! I'll keep that in mind.

I think the main issue is Illustrator is always shutting off my GPU performance. I have all the right settings for illustrator in the NVIDIA Control Panel and I've even run this fix.bat file another user suggested here:

It works but only one time. After closing the program or shutting down my laptop and turning it back again the GPU performance is greyed out again and I need to reinstall Illustrator again (which doesn't really help) - I need to run a new fix.bat file again, even that doesn't work all the time.

There is literally no obvious use case that works here. The GPU performance being available or greyed out seems to be very random.

I literally don't know how to fix this.

This program is not properly developed and Adobe support is very basic (delete fonts, reinstall drivers etc.)

If the GPU acceleration function is frequently being disabled in Illustrator and your computer has a RTX 4060 graphics board then something is definitely not right. The problem is all the different variables of drivers and hardware components (not to mention the operating system itself).

If you haven't already tried this step I suggest performing a clean un-install of Adobe Illustrator using the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool, then re-booting the computer and re-installing Illustrator. It's possible there could be some corrupted data still present from prior installations. The CC Cleaner tool can remove that.

Thank you. I always use the CC Cleaner to reinstall Illustrator but today I've uninstalled the whole Creative Cloud app with all the apps. Then I reinstalled Illustartor and restarted my laptop and the GPU performance is available again.

The question is only for how long. Because I've achieved this already with various work arounds only for it to be greyed out again the next time I restarted my laptop.

I am glad to hear the problem was resolved. However, you should not have to reinstall Illustrator every time this happens. Would you mind sharing some more information to be able to help you with this scenario in the future:

For macOS computers:

1) AISniffer file

- Close all Adobe applications

- Navigate to the Illustrator Preferences folder and copy the AiSniffer file to the desktop from this location: Users/YOUR USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator #(version Number)Settings > AISniffer

2) System Report

- You can generate it from the Apple icon > About This Mac > System Report > Save to the desktop.

For Windows computers:

1. AiSniffer file:

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Navigate to the Illustrator Preferences folder and copy the AiSniffer file to the desktop from this location: 

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 28 Settings\en_US\x64\

2. For the System Report, kindly follow these steps:

- Please press Windows Key + the letter "R" on your keyboard to bring up the Run command window

- Type "msinfo32" in the Open field and left-click OK

- While viewing the Microsoft System Information summary, go to File, then choose Save (Please do not use Export)

- Save your MSINFO32 report as "msinfo32.nfo" on your desktop to easily locate it after. It can take up to a minute to generate a report.
