Hi, ongoing CC issues...
I have a client file that has a logotype, the length of the combined letters is 561mm. Height is reading as 5779.558mm. It should be about 82mm. If I decrease the figure in the box to 5000mm it moves it downwards!!
Its actual position on the y scale is 1079mm, I can still move it using that as well.
Puzzled

Can you select it and check the appearance panel if any effect is applied?
Also in the Preferences > General is "Use Preview Bounds" turned on?

no effects, 'use preview bounds' is off...
in searching... that measurement appears to be the maximum area, I wonder if that's relevant?

got it!
it was picking up a guide line (although curiously none are visible), I could only see it in outline mode.
I viewed and then hid guides, locked and unlocked guides and even without saving, it now behaves as it should.... very strange...
thanks for your help

Granger,
When that figure (or some 227.542 inches, or 16.383 points/pixels) turns up, you are looking at the total width/height of the Workspace, and the most likely/frequent explanation is a misguided guide.
