Explorer ,
Feb 13, 2023 Feb 13, 2023

Hey there, I just got a tablet and am using ai cs6. I am trying to figure out how to get my paint brush cursor to show the brush width size before I use it. My eraser does this perfectly, but my paint brush does not, any ideas on how to get my paint brush I can to shoe the line width in the icon? See attached screen shots for clarification.

Thanks!

Hi @DexAlpenglow,

I understand that you are having trouble getting your paint brush cursor to show the brush width size before using it. Have you tried resetting your preferences in Ai CS6? Sometimes that can help fix issues like this.

To do that, close Ai and then hold down the Shift + Option + Command keys (Mac) or Shift + Alt + Ctrl keys (Windows) while restarting the application. You should see a dialog box asking if you want to delete the preferences file. Click "Yes" and then try using t

When I hover over it, it is just labeled as the "paintbrush tool" and there are no other options. See attached screen shot.

The brushes are in the brushes panel. When using a calligraphy brush you should get an icon of the size.

Yes, that's a calligraphy brush.

The size shows on my system, but I don't have a tablet attached, so I'm woindering whether the tablet causes this. Is it set up as your main monitor or second?

It's maybe time to contact Customer Care and ask them to log into your system to find out.

Click "Yes" and then try using the paint brush tool again.

Also, it's worth checking if your tablet is supported to work with Ai CS6. We have limited support for this older version of the software, so it's possible that there may be some compatibility issues. Finally, please note that as CS6 is an end-of-life product, any bugs or issues will not be addressed.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Anshul Saini
