I can no longer find the pantone coated and uncoated colour library. can anyone help me, I use Illustrator version 28.7.1. Thanks
Install the older version via the Creative Cloud app and then grab the Pantone libraries from there. Pantone pulled out their libraries from Creative Cloud .
Once you have the libraries, store them in a dry place so you can add them if you need after every update.

How does one "grab the Pantone libraries"? How would they then be added to CC with each update?

You will have to do that manually.
Here's where they go: https://www.vektorgarten.de/illustrator-settings.html

You can copy them from an older install.

Thanks. I no longer have 2020 installed and that version doesn't seem to be available any more. Wish I had known a couple of years ago how to do this. 😞

Install (or go to if still installed) an older version of Illustrator like 2022 (26.5.2)
In the Creative Cloud app select Apps > All Apps > Illustrator > click the 3 dots … next to the Open button > click Other Versions and select 26.5.2
Go the Illustrator 2022 Application folder > Presets > (your language folder) > Swatches > Color Books > and make a copy of PANTONE+ Solid Coated.acb and PANTONE+ Solid Uncoated.acb
Keep them in a safe place and copy them to the same location in the Illustrator 2023 application folder.

Thank you! I can do that. Can the same be done for InDesign? Will the same .acb files work there?

Good to hear you found them. Yes, the same .acb files can be used in other Adobe apps.

Incase anyone needs more information this link explains all.
After November 2022, the only Pantone Color books that will remain are:
The solid books everyone uses are gone, unless you buy a Pantone book and go through a lengthy process to register & install. In my 35 years consulting at 1000s of different companies (mostly ad agencies), noone has ever used the Pantone+ books just the solid books.
