Pasted text changes font in Illustrator

Dec 19, 2017 Dec 19, 2017

Anyone else have this annoying thing happening? My Illustrator updated itself to the new (2018) version and now when I paste copied or cut text, the pasted version is in a different font to the original?! Very annoying. I have searched, but can't find other posts on this... is it only me...?

Hi

it happens sometimes when you copy from different format than what you paste into it.

Try to copy the needed text and paste it into plain text forms or apps, like notepad or the address bar of the browser.

Make sure that you paste it as "plain text"

Then copy it, and paste it in illustrator at the same text form you need. It will keep the same format you used it before.

Thanks

Thank you. I'm copying from text boxes in the same document on the same page.

That is a work around, but is really annoying and will slow down my work process.

How to take a perfectly working application and break it… wish I'd never upgraded - worked fine this morning

Thank you, I'll give that a go. Just gone up to High Sierra (Mac).

Have you tried Trashing Preferences?

To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut

  • Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (macOS) as you start Illustrator. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Illustrator.

Depending on the operating system that you are using, the Illustrator preferences file is available at the following location:

macOS

1

<OSDisk>/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator <version number> Settings/en_US*/Adobe Illustrator Prefs

Windows

1

<OSDisk>\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator <version number> Settings\en_US*\x64\Adobe Illustrator Prefs
