Hello @shesheka,

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes. Would you mind trying to update the OS(https://adobe.ly/3SHuQh7) and Illustrator(https://adobe.ly/3UO7ngS) to the latest version and checking if it helps? Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and sharing your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hello @Studio Ngong,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, system config and Monitors, and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3B2omEG), so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Did this problem start after an update? If so then try resetting your Illustrator preferences. This will restore the program to its defaults which, hopefully will fix the issue.

To reset preferences:

For Macintosh Users: The User Library folder in which Illustrator’s preferences are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that Illustrator is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N).With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the folder called “Adobe Illustrator <Version #> Settings” (earlier versions of Illustrator might just say “Adobe Illustrator”) and the file called “com.adobe.Illustrator.plist” and delete both that folder and that file. When Illustrator is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.

For Windows Users: You can try the quick way of resetting on a PC which is to hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift when launching Illustrator and respond affirmatively when asked if you want to reset. There have been some recent reports that the window asking if you want to reset is not popping up but that the prefs are being reset anyway. If this works great but if it doesn’t you may have to manually delete them.

To do so: On Windows 7 and above the preference files are hidden. To find them go to the Control Panel and open Folder Options and then click the View tab. Then select “Show hidden files and folders” or “Show hidden files, folders or drive options” in Advanced Settings. Then delete (or rename) the folder at the end of this path: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [version number]\ Settings\<Language>. Make sure that Illustrator is closed when you do this. When you relaunch the program it will create new preference files and the program will be at its default settings.

The advantage of manually deleting preference files is that after you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, you can create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

Hello @courageous_Lily5EE9,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing more details, like if this happens temporarily or if the pink screen stays like that on your canvas? Also, kindly confirm the OS/Illustrator version and if switching to CPU Preview and then back to GPU preview helps resolve the problem.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

The pink screen is temporary when opening the programme, it flickers for 1-2 seconds. Once my files is open it runs fine, but I'd rather get the pink screen issue sorted. Especially with my Mac being new (2 weeks old)

specs:

MacBook Pro M4

Mac OS : Sequoia 15.1.1

Adobe Ai Version 29.1

I've tried switching between GPU and CPU performance, doesn't change the pink screen issue.

*Another Update*

I have also tested this out with Photoshop,After effects and Indesign. There is no issue with the pink screen, it's only with Illustrator, Hopefully that narrows down the issue.

I've also rebooted my MacBook and restarted the Illustrator preferences and the pink screen is still there.

Hello @Aaron27486700mme1, @courageous_Lily5EE9,

Thanks for sharing your observations. I have tried replicating this on my end but could not. It seems this problem only happens on macOS systems with multiple monitors with the problem mostly limited to the second monitor. Would you mind sharing your observations and upvoting this UserVoice (https://adobe.ly/3Op1Bhs)? Doing this will help us prioritize this request, and you will be notified of any updates.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Hi all,

I am having the same issue - it came out of nowhere, and now it is painful to work in Adobe Illustrator. Has this been addressed? I don't have this issue in any other adobe application.

Hello @SKS Graphics,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Could you confirm the version of the OS/Illustrator installed, and if this happens consistently across all files, or when using multiple monitors, so I can better assist you?

Also, try disabling GPU acceleration under Illustrator's preferences, and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi!

Thank you so much for paying attention to this - it has been a big problem to work in AI (version 29.6.1) since this started (about 3 weeks ago). It ONLY happens in AI, I also use ID and PS all the time - all good with these.

I use 2 screens - my imac with macOS Monterey 17.7.6, and a second DELL P2715Q Display.

I just turned off the GPU - I will let you know if that makes a difference. Thank you!
