Can anyone please help?!

My Illustrator didn't quite crash, I was still able to select and move things within the artboard but all the toolbar and menu times dissapeared and I feared a crash was comming (In hindsight I wish I let it crash as I would of been able to auto revover probably) anyway so I clicked Ctrl + S but as I hadn't already saved it a window popped up (But it was blank), most likely asking if I wanted to save the file locally or in the cloud, anyway I clicked off that and tried to close the window, yet another pop up (Again blank), I assumed it said do you want to save before exiting so I just clicked return to confirm, the pop up window closed and and I attempted again but this time I pressed tab going thinking I was moving the selection to save but I obviously hit "Don't save" and that's me... Lost about 5 hours worth of work...

Please anybody with any ideas or advice please let me know. Thanks in advance!

If you don't save, then the file is gone.

Just in case Illustrator crashed and could save a  recovery file, then it will ask if you want to recover file next time you launch Illustrator. If that doesn't happen, then there's no way to recover your file.

You could install the free version of the plugin Autosaviour. It will remind you to save your files.
