Possible to mass change layers without dragging?

Hi all,

I have a whole bunch of objects (as in, several hundred) in a few layers, and I want to move them to other layers. I'm finding that dragging them all is very tedious and is taking forever, even when I select five or six at a time. (They're scattered all over the place.) Is there a way to cut and paste the objects from one layer to another without dragging them? I use AI 2021 and Windows 10. Thanks in advance!

Oh funny, I'm so used to using Ctrl X and Ctrl V in Word that I didn't even think of using the AI commands. (I'm an editor first.) That works like a charm and is WAY easier. Thanks!

here's another way

- select the objects you want to move

- click on the Destination layer in the layers panel

- go to Object->Arrange->Send to Current Layer
