problems with blending tool in photoshop to create a shadow effect

Hello everyone,

I followed this tutorial to learn how to make a shadow effect. the tutorial is great but i am not able to get the same shadow effect for a square, funny part is if i save it as jpeg pr png format, i am able to see the effect but not in the .ai file. Help please!!

I have attached an image of how it looks instead of a smooth image.

Please post your exact step by step description.

Maybe try the opo plugin to get that effect and then fill the shape with a gradient.

Those effects and blends tend to make a very heavy file

I removed stroke from the black boxes as soon as i saw your message and it worked!! . Thanks for your suggestion. It helped massively
