Rectangle tool missing

The rcetangle tool has disappeared from the tools and doesn't seem to exist anymore? How to make shapes like rectangles and circles in an easy way?

Try to change your workspace to another one and back (menu: Window --> workspace)

Or try to reset your workspace in the same menu.

That was also my first thought. But the small triangle to open the pop-up is not there. (So unfortunately it won't work).

Press LMB and hold for a while. Alternatively, from the keyboard "M" or "L"

Please take another close look at the screenshot from the OP. In this constellation, you can press and hold the LMB for as long as you like. Nothing will happen.
