Reduce background around logo...how?

Guest

Hy guys,

still some questions about how Illustrator works for my small needs. I have a logo that is centered on the artboard but with tones of white background all around. If I export my logo, it will fit very small in the final image. What I want is:

1) reduce the with background around or

2) create a new artboard and copy and paste my logo

Here is my situation: http://prntscr.com/l1de7u

How can I do please?

Thanks

I think I solved doing this: create a new AI file with an artboard size like 1920 x 1080. Inside of it, I paste the copied object from the original file and adapt in it. So now, I have the logo with the desire size and amount of white and space all around. It's ok like this or?

Just another small and quick question: I tested then this new file and if I export for web in a large size (3840x2116 like...) I have an excellent quality but If I saved it in like 1020 x 500 for example quality is awful a

select just your logo

choose the artboard tool

at the top of the page, choose Fit to Selected Art

the artboard will resize itself to fit your logo.

select the artboard  tool. If Fit to Selected Art doesn't work, try just grabbing the corners of the artboard and resizing it.

i have this huge amount of white around the logo in an artboard that is 550px x 370px ok? See here: http://prntscr.com/l22sxx

Then, I would like to reduce this white and try to fit the logo to all the borders with just a little of white so that if I want to enlarge my image, I don't have a 4000x4000 image where the logo is small in the middle of the photo hope to explain me

As you told me, I grab the corners of the artboard and resize it second my needs (btw, how can I obtain a perfect rectangle or square when reduce the artboard?) see here --> http://prntscr.com/l22tzv but then what to do? I can't cut, I can't copy I can't do anything!

Or is it possible to take my logo and copy to another artboard from scratch?

That should be possible.

daniele,

Is the logo a raster image?

If it is, you may reduce it to a rectangular shape with transparent/white background depending on format by cropping (easier in Photoshop), and the Artboard can be fit.

But obviously, the logo should be in vector format.

Daniele,

In that case you should be able to select it by clicking it with the Selection Tool (black arrow), unless it is locked or something else is hindering you; you should be able to see the artwork and whatever in the Windows>Layers palette with the relevant layer(s) expanded.

It may help if you show a screenshot of the artwork with the Layers palette also shown, and preferably also the Appearance palette.

Sorry but I'm new to this world but I need this logo so bad

Your original image is vector, but when you save for web, you are saving in a pixel format.

Ok right but if I save for web and enlarge it no problem, if I reduce big problems...

When rasterizing, fewer pixels (smaller size) = lower quality (or at least more coarseness).

Here's one way to visualize it:

Suppose you had to arrange a particular number of postage stamps in a circle.

Picture the circle you'd make if you were given 1000 stamps.

Now picture a circle for which you were only given 8 stamps.

I know that's my fault but I still don't understand a thing: if I use vectorized image on AI, if I reduce the ai file like 200x200 and export, why I loose quality? And why, if I export in png format an AI file for example that is 800x800 in like 300x300 the result is awful? Is there a way to fix this directly on AI?

If there are only 200x200 pixels in your png then there is no chance to display any more detail. One pixel in a raster image can have one color.
