Regarding Handling of .dxf >10MB files in Illustrator

This is regarding support and guidance on type of Inputs that can be handled in Adobe Illustrator. Can we use the .dxf files with >10MB file size. files will be Imported into Adobe illustrator. after importing the files we have to make changes and cleanup the files for publication.

 

Currently we are facing issues like adobe illustrator is getting crashed and even if we open the files it is very slow in processing the commands like zoom in and out, Pan and other adobe commands.

 

Advise required in handling .dxf files with higher memory size

As Mr. Stohlmeyer already said, this has nothing to do with file size. The rest we can't know. You have not provided any info about what your files actually contain nor what system you are currently working with, so nobody can advise on how to improve the situation.

Its not the physical size of the file, its the complexity of the drawing itself.

We run into this all the time with imported DXF from building plans - it has too many layers and individual paths and chokes out trying to show. 

My best advice is to go back to the author and have them strip out unnecessary layers in their app before saving the DXF.

While Illustrator can import/open DXF - it's not AutoCAD and can't match the same performance with overly complex drawings.

Could you please suggest System Requirements to handle .dxf files

There really isnt a System Requirement available for this.

Even if you were to max out your RAM, CPU, storage - it doesn't guarantee it will make a difference. You're better off spending that money on software.

Adobe Illustrator is not AutoCAD. It was never meant to be.

If you are required to make edit to overly complex DXF files, I would suggest investing in a copy of compatible CAD software that can handle this.
