Replace several png with svg or symbol

New Here ,
Aug 25, 2022 Aug 25, 2022

I've been doing manually a replacement of the pixelated images you can see on the left with the image of the plane (this is an svg) on the right:

- I did it manually one by one

- I tried with an Action

- I tried unembeding but it also allows to undembed one by one

However it's around 17,000 images so it might get too long. Is there a way to replace automatically all these images with the same image or with the plane as a symbol?

Thanks!Screenshot 2022-08-25 at 15.44.18.png

If your images are linked assets, then you could do the following:

  1. Go to Links panel (Window > Links)
  2. Select all the assets to switch
  3. Go to the Links panel menu (the hamburger menu in the upper right of the panel)
  4. Select Relink...
  5. Select the file containing the image that you want to use to replace the linked asset (the Place dialog will reopen for each asset that you have selected to relink, so you'll need to reselect the replacement image each time)

Which version of Illustrator are you using?

Can you share this Illustrator file, so one may take a look?

Thanks! I've been doing this, but as I wrote, it's 17000 images so it's taking a bit long to do. I wanted to find a quicker way

There are several scripts available that can do that kind of replacements.

Usually, you should find them by doing a forum search. Have you already tried?
