Come on, Adobe.
Freehand could rotate a triangle without crashing.
version 24.0.1
I just realized rotating other objects crash the "application" too. So probably the file may be corrupt. I understand that handling 4 pages with 20 objects is too hardcore for a 2019 app.

I'm rotating stuff all the time. Never did it crash because of that. So you might want to not only check the file, but everything else as well.
Maybe the preferences got corrupted. Again, this never happened to me, but some people need to do it quite frequently.
Maybe Illustrator didn't get installed properly.
Also: when was the last time you restarted your computer? Turns out some people only do that every couple of years (no, that's not a joke). Desktop systems just aren't built for that.
You can contact Customer Care and they login to your system and check things out for you. Please contact Customer Care: http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with Illustrator. This is unusual, I would request if you can share a few more details like:
For MAC
For Windows
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and Illustrator will recreate new folders with default settings.
Regards
Rishabh

Monika, it never happened to me too(, or at least I can´t remember). When Adobe apps were kinda working or at least U knew what might crash them. Long before CC with its apps of doom, of course.
Übrigens habe ich schon als Anfänger vor 15 Jahren deine Tutorials gelesen, ein verspätetes Danke dafür. ;c)
Computer and apps were updated yesterday and it was booted only today before I started working on that freshly created file.
Rishabh:It only happened on the file I was working on. Freshly created half an hour before the crashing began. And before that I only activated the document grid, created a triangle via polygon tool, rounded the corners (with mouse on object directly) and wanted to rotate it. Then the document crashed and would not react to any input. Illustrator crashed too, it did not close, but it also showed no message. I killed it via task manager and on restarting it, it didn´t ask to recover the file. That was no big surprise, I could manually open the temp file ( I had not saved the file yet as I was working on some quick drafts only, but when the document crashed I decided to take my chance and try to save it anyway which obviously did not work as it only left the temp file in the chosen folder) but rotating any object would crash the document now. Moving or scaling would not. But rotating.
Anyway, maybe the first thing one should do after creating a file is saving it because such problems might not occur on already saved files. Who knows? Nevertheless that never happened before and I never directly save a freshly created document.
Whatever I created a new document and c&p the objects, here I can rotate them flawlessly like in Freehand MX. (pun intended)

15 Jahre ist das schon? Die Zeit vergeht.
After updating the system, you did the application update?
Did you reset the preferences when doing that? Creating new preferences (instead of migrating the old ones) seems a very good idea when updating.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about this issue. I would like to know if the steps suggested above worked for you, or the issue still persists. If not, will it be possible for you to share the file with us. This will help us identify the issue and help accordingly.
I will also try to recover the file but file recovery can't be guaranteed with a 100% success. We'll surely try our best.
Thanks,
Srishti
