Search how exactly?
List View and Sort by Name may be your best option.

I’m not sure I understand your intention.
Could you post a screenshot or sketch to clarify?

You could go to list view, then choose "sort by name". However if you have a document with several symbols, then there is no palette to search and jump directly to a symbol. That would be an interesting feature to request.

It doesn't work with Illustrator symbols, but you can add graphics to a CC Library. Within your library, you can name the graphics, group them, and search within the current library or all of your libraries.

I was surprised when I added a Symbol to a CC library, it was named Artwork 1.
When I Placed the Artwork as a Copy (or Alt drag it to the artboard) in a new document, it still was a Symbol and had the original Symbol name.

Oooh... the Alt+drag does the trick! When I just drag it out from the library, I only get the artwork. Nice!

Yes, to make even better, rename the symbol from Artwork XXX to it's original name when added to the CC library.
Same is true for objects with brushes, patterns and named gradients, when alt-dragged into a document you will add the brush, pattern or gradient to the document.
