Select same fill colour not working

Community Beginner ,
Aug 20, 2018 Aug 20, 2018

I've upgraded to CC Illustrator 22.1. I've opened up an older file containing many small bitmap images. When I select one of these bitmap images and then 'select same fill colour' it won't grab any other image of the same colour even though the colours have the EXACT same cymk breakdown and are the exact same bitmap linked file. Why on earth would this feature not be working when it has worked in the past?

You can use either:

- Edit > Edit colors > Recolor art

- "add used colors" from the swatches panel menu to create global swatches.

So you have applied a color to a 1-bit-image in order to colorize it?

No I didn't but I just tried it then and that didn't seem to work either.

The oldest Illustrator version I still have installed at work is CC 2015 and there it does not work either, so which version are you referring to?

Yes, but you seemed to claim the same color selection worked for bitmap images in an older version – in which one?

Sorry it was 2014... however it was created by someone else in our studio who says it didn't work in this version after all!! So perhaps there has never been a feature that works for bitmaps. Sorry for the confusion.

If you use a Global Color for colorising the bitmap images you can change the Color from the Swatches Panel and all the instances it has been applied to will update accordingly.

Select same fill colour used to work in CS6 for bitmap tiffs, is there a reason why this ability has removed?

Edit > Edit colours > Recolour art is a much more involved work around.

Breyscale or birmap, linked or embedded, I cannot get it to work in CS6.

So I don't think functionality has been removed.

The Global colors solution is a very easy workaround.
