Selected text is highlighting white so can't read text - illustrator beta

Anyone able to help on the below?

When I highlight text with the cursor, it's highlighting in white, but not reversing out the text, so you can't actually read the text -  as pic attached. 

I have tried closing and restarting the program, but doesn't make any difference. 

Any ideas where the setting is for this?

Try resetting the preferences for Illustrator: click the Reset Preferences button in the General tab of the Preferences dialog.
