Recently my drop shadow effect and any other option of making shadow (duplicating layer and blur) has been acting very strange, bad for print, and i can can see it clearly on screen. (I think the change happened when I did an updates).
opening on Photoshop - it looks broken' see one sample below:

sadly it happens on Photoshop as well (making shadow for a pic at Photoshop, import as psd to illustrator and the shadow looks bad/broken nor smoothly).
it is like a year, i think from the transforming to cc 2018, one of the updates there.
it has to be same of the definition of adobe. i see other peoples work with out this problem, and myself before - did not had this problem.

Can you try if it's also bad when View > Preview on CPU?

it looks better when doing that - but will it stay on print or its just preview?
when exporting to Photoshop - it doesn't matter/no differences...

Can you check your Color Settings? What is your CMYK Working Space Profile?

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out. As you mentioned that previewing on CPU looks better, then definitely there is a display issue with the system. Just for confirmation, please check the same document on some other system(maybe your colleagues' system). If the file looks fine there, then definitely its something related to display and your printouts will be fine.
In that case, my first suggestion would be updating GPU. Please uninstall the graphics card driver, go to the manufacturer's website and install the latest driver.
Regards,
Srishti
