Adobe is UNWORKABLE at the moment on my imac.
I cant scale, copy, double select anything.
Since upgrade, the alt, option, shift key is doing nothing.
PLEASE SEND HELP
For the ones with the same problem.
Wacom just sent me an email saying this is a software bug, more people are coming in with the same problem.
So, we will have to sit it out untill they fix it i guess.
Thanks for all the efforts of finding a solution.

WHich operating system is it? If Sonoma, then maybe you did that update too early.
Apart from that: those keys definitely work on the Mac. I'm using them all the time
There might be some third party app interfering. You could start with this list:

It might be a wacom issue?
I tried reinstall, new preferences, Pram reset.
On my macbook everything works fine under Sonoma.
(I should set OSX auto update off, you are right).

See my post below for trashing preferences manually. Sometimes using the key commands for trashing don't do the job completely.

It sounds like you used the keyboard method to trash preferences. Try the manual method to do so. It will sometimes make a difference to do a manual trashing.
To do so:
For Macintosh Users: The User Library folder in which Illustratorās preferences are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that Illustrator is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N).With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (itās the folder with an icon that looks like a houseāit may have the userās name rather than āHomeā) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. āLibraryā will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the folder called āAdobe Illustrator <Version #> Settingsā (earlier versions of Illustrator might just say āAdobe Illustratorā) and the file called ācom.adobe.Illustrator.plistā and delete both that folder and that file. When Illustrator is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.
To Windows users: On Windows 7 and above the preference files are hidden. To find them go to the Control Panel and open Folder Options and then click the View tab. Then select āShow hidden files and foldersā or āShow hidden files, folders or drive optionsā in Advanced Settings. Then delete (or rename) the folder at the end of this path: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [version number]\ Settings\<Language>. Make sure that Illustrator is closed when you do this. When you relaunch the program it will create new preference files and the program will be at its default settings.
The advantage of manually deleting preference files is that after youāve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, you can create copies of your personalized āmintā preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying themāthat finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

ok Bill, it is defintely the wacom tablet causing the issues.
If i hover with the mouse, the keys work. Wacom shuts it down right away.
Tried to follow their manual but it's insane!

Are you using the latest Wacom tablet driver? They released driver updates for both Mac OS and Windows last week (and then they had to push out another update for the Windows version yesterday).

I just spent 2 hours with wacom, deleting every single wacom remnant from the system. Rebooted about 1600 times. It's just not woirking.... It is definetely not an Adobe issue but Wacom. The driver is not compatible, and crashes etc.

Is is possible the latest Wacom driver for MacOS (version 6.4.4-2) might have caused this issue? Wacom released it last week. Did you get push notifications from Wacom and install that driver when it was released? How long has it been since the problems with your Illustrator installation started? It might be worth trying to roll back to an earlier version of the Wacom tablet driver.

If you click the "Older Versions" button you'll see a long, scroll-able list of previous MacOS drivers. Several months ago I was stuck having to use a previous Wacom tablet driver for Windows because the one they had released in January would cause the Illustrator application window to just vanish only a minute or two after launching the application. It took them until May to release a stable Windows driver.

News from wacom:
Official bug that happens to some users with the new driver 6.4.4-2.
To resolve the issue while the Driver Dept releases a new driver, we recommend using the reset driver feature from the Wacom Center (several times if necessary) to recover from the issue. You can access this feature by going to Wacom Center / Gear (top right) / Troubleshooting Options / Reset Driver

Do you have a Wacom installed? If so, it's most probably the driver.

Yes and it's come just after the update. First attempt at reset driver didn't work
