Simplify path in Illustrator not working on a complex path. The tool shows up for a second and disappears, therefore I have no chance to interact with it or switch to advanced mode. Works fine with a simple path.

Tool in question: Object > Path > Simplify.

Tried to restart, reinstall, upgrade Ai, switching of GPU acceleration, different computer - with no success.

Illustrator 26.0.3 (64-bit) - it wasn’t working for a couple of older versions too, but it’s critical for my workflow now, therefore I'm looking for a solution. Will consider 3rd party plugin.

Win10Pro Build 19044, 64 bit OS

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz  4.20 GHz, 64 GB RAM, GTX1060 6GB

I found a solution/workaround. All paths were pasted from Photoshop as Compound Shapes and Simplify Tool didn't work with complex paths. It works if I paste the same path as Compound Path and then turn them in Compound Shapes (Object > Compound Shapes > Make).

Can you share a sample Illustrator file that contains this complex path?
