Size and Scale of CSV data driven image

New Here ,

Dear community,

our organisation has a huge library of portraits of its members. The JPG images have different sizes and resolutions.

We used to print our membership cards using Variables in Photoshop. This worked perfect using "Pixel Replacement" and method "Fit".

That way images have been printed in correct ratio and scaled to the correct size (in order to fit the layout of our membership cards) regardless of the portraits properties.

Now we're using Illustrator and its capability to import data via CSV.

The problem we have is that the size of data driven images (portraits) varies depending on the source files properties. Is there a way similar to the "Fit" method in Photoshops "Pixel Replacement" to be able to import those images scaled to the maximum available size, defined by an object?

Thank you for your help,

Klaus

something like this (couple options)

help3.PNG

helper2.PNG

....otherwise I would recommend just rendering 'assets' and batching them in photoshop so you know they all conform (leave the originals how they were)
