Size values change automatically

New Here ,

Hello,

I need help with the following problem.

When I open a Print template and start working in it every size that I manually set in the transform dialog box stays set only while that object is selected, afterwards it changes to a random value near to what I've entered.

For example: I draw a rectangle, I set W=75mm and H=55mm and then, after I deselect it and reselect it, the W is still 75mm, but the H is 55,002mm.

That's an example for the height, but sometimes the width changes too, or event both at the same time.

Is there a setting I have to change or what is happening?

Thank you!

liviuvasiles,

There have always been occurrences of such slight changes, especially with non point units, which is the native unit.

Is it happening for each and every object?

Hi, Jacob,

Yes. The same change happens even if it involve a move of an object by inserting X and Y values.

If I open a web template this small changes in values don't happen anyway.

Is there a fix for that or do i just have to work in points?

Or is there a template with mm as a default unit in which changes don't happen anymore?

Jacob, thanks for your answer.

Liviu,

I am afraid you will have to live with it when working i mm, and just try to ignore it.

There is no point (sorry) at all to consider a change to work in points.

The thing is that a small .001 change of the first object screws the 5th or 6th object placed in relation with that one.

Anyway, I understood the situation. I wanted to be sure that I haven't missed some checkmark for an Illustrator option.

Thank you very much for helping me.

Have a great day!

2 reasons this can happen

  • You have align for pixel grid on
  • You have use preview bounds which adds the stroke weight

From the symptoms you describe make sure in your expanded transfrom palette you  have align to pixel grid on for all your selected objects, turn that off.

Hello, I was having the same issue, and using preview bounds seems to fix it. Thank you!!
