Slow performance of Illustrator vs. InDesign

I am using Adobe Illustrator CC 2015. I also use Adobe Indesign CC 2015.

I have noticed that when I work on any document measuring 12 inches by 18 inches, single sheet, containing high resolution, linked files, it takes a long time to save the file on Illustrator.

However, InDesign has a very high speed in saving such documents. I am comparing these software based on my observations on two machines which have i5 processors and NVIDIA graphic cards and 8 GB RAMs.

How can I increase the speed of Illustrator's performance?

Hi Arjun,

If I get it correctly, you are facing issues with Illustrator slow performance as compared to InDesign? Although both are very different programs and handles files differently. Since you have not mentioned whether you are using a Mac or a Windows machine, I am sharing links for both platform. You should try the steps suggested in these links to improve the performance of Illustrator:

Improve Illustrator performance on Windows

Improve Illustrator performance on Mac OS X

Regards,

Om
