Snap to Glyph Feature Not Working

The Snap to Gylph feature is grayed and not working. I have ensured that my settings are correct according to this page, https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/snap-to-glyph.html

however, this feature is still not working and I cannot seem to figure out what the issue is.

Turn it on under View menu.

What happens when you select the text object with the selection tool Then right click with the selection tool on the desired letter - can you then select snap to glyph from the contet menu?

No, I am not able to select it. It is still gray.

Smart guides are turned on?

Snap to grid is turned off?

This is an area text, right? Can you try with point text?

I'm not sure how to use point text

If you just click with the text tool instead of click and drag, you create point text
