Spray paint splatter effect

Hi, I am wanting to create in illustrator a sprat paint splattet effect with multiple colours. Similar to what they have done in this photo: Yogabox West End | Hot Power Yoga & AntiGravity Aerial Yoga Coming Soon

I know I could probably download pre made brushes to acheive this effect but I would like to make my own brushes for this project or use a different technique. Would anyone be able to please give me some ideas/help on how to do this?

Thanks in advance!

There is the way, that You desire to be:

  1. Download the splatter image (google for it)
  2. Trace the image (play with settings for best results)
  3. Expand image, delete background
  4. Give it a color, or gradient (like on webiste)
  5. Here You go

For a down-n-dirty spatter brush you can simply use a circle saved as a Scatter Brush and play with the settings:

Choose "Tints" Colorization to use the same brush for multiple colors.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried what you have suggested but it doesn't seem to really acheive what I am after as per the photo in the link ...it just looks like a heap of dots. I have tried playing around with the settings too although keep in mind I am still learning illustrator so maybe I am doing something wrong?
