Hello, I'm completely new here and unfortunately I'm not familiar with AI. I'm a painter and I'm trying to realize the image I've uploaded here in AI. Can anyone give me a tip on how to do this?
Alternatively, I would be happy if I could use a function I know from Photoshop here. I would like to spray these fog fields or "sand grain fields" on the surface like with a kind of spray and be able to spray sometimes darker, sometimes denser. I would be very grateful for any hint, no matter how small. Thank you!

I would do this kind of work in Photoshop.
Trying to spray and layer thousands of tiny vector dots will blow up the filesize and slow down Illustrator.

Thanks, Tom, for the tip. The problem is that I then have to enlarge the drawing to 6 x 4 meters. And since Photoshop relies on pixels, that probably wouldn't look good. Or is there a way to solve this problem with Photoshop as well?

That's 17,008 x 11,339 px at 72 PPI, which is big but might not be impossible to work with depending on your hardware. What sort of resolution do you need?

300 dpi per inch

Have you been told you need this resolution or is it an assumption? 300 PPI is a very high resolution for such a large print.

Yes, indeed. I've told the procect under the topic of photoshop: how to brush a picture like this in photoshop? - Adobe Community - 14489320

Hi Maria, that is an interesting technique, I wonder how the grey levels of pixels are translated into the depth/strenght of the sandblasted.

AI is a different tool than PSD so the way of working should be different.
Draw a shape/fill with a solid color/make shades with the "gradient mesh" tool.
Finally, add noise.
