Hi!
Does anyone have any idea on how I can fix this issue: when I click the down or up arrow on my keyboard when using the star tool the points do not increase or decrease, I've searched and tired a lot of different things and have yet to find an answer. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Are you pressing the arrow keys during the process of drawing the star? It doesn't work after the star is drawn. You have to keep the mouse button depressed while using the arrow keys. If you are doing it that way and it still isn't working you may need to reset your preferences.

Yes I am doing it while the mouse button is depressed, how would I reset my preferences?

Instructions to reset preferences are at https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html

Resetting preferences will probably do the trick. If it doesn't, you may need to uninstall/reinstall using the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
It's not likely, but is there a chance that the problem is with the keyboard?

As Teresa said, you must keep the mouse button down in order for the up/down arrow keys to work.
Once you release the mouse, there is no easy way to add and delete points from the star, and you might as well start over again.

Could you please explain to me how to adjust the size/length of star points for 2022? The ctrl key no longer does it for all the points simultaneously. It's so very frustrating.

Did you look on the adobe help pages?

Yes, it was great until it told me to use the ctrl key. lol I haven't tried it today. Maybe I'll reboot everything and see what happens. Thanks for the reply.

If you are on a Mac, it's the Command key, not the Control key.
If you are on Windows, the up/down arrows and Control key work properly.

I'm on Windows and I tried to use the CTRL key for about 3 hours last night. Refused to change anything. I have no idea. Thanks for the confirmation that ctrl is still supposed to handle that function.

Might be a dumb suggestion but if the keyboard is wireless, change the batteries.

Why not? Nothing else seems to work. Is there a particular spot, like the anchor, that has to be touched for the ctrl to work and to be able to change the size?

This will only work while you create the star. And you cannot get the cursor to touch anywhere specific while creating the star. The cursor is where it is.

No, but I usually keep my mouse just outside the "tips" of the star.
