Hi, Iʻm relatively new to Illustrator, I used Fireworks until my Mac no longer supported it. I need to outline some text with a diffused white stroke so it stands out on a black background. I converted the text to outlines. Can somoene show me how to do this in Illustrator? Iʻve spent hours looking into strokes, brushes, drop shadows and nothing is working. Thanks in advance! See the image Iʻve attached.
Hi Debbie
You don't need to outline the text, and you can apply an Outer Glow (Effects > Stylize > Outer Glow) effect to the text to achieve your desired result. Use a light color (or white) with the effect blending mode set to screen.
Hope that helps!

Tony - thanks so much! I tried that, but now realize that I wasnʻt putting the right amounts in the blur. Phew, I knew it had to be a simple fix. Very helpful, I appreciate it. - Debbie
