Every time I launch Illustrator, an error appears: The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [SExi]
This happens since i installed latest CC version.
I uninstalled, and re-installed. It didn't change anything.
Any ideas?
Hi interactivemartin,
As mentioned by Mike, to check the steps mentioned by me, I am putting them here once again for your convenience. Please follow the steps below :
1. Enable root user (Mac) or Hidden Admin Account (Windows) Enabling and using the "root" user in OS X - Apple Support
2. Log in to the Root/Hidden Admin account
3. Uninstall AI with the help of CC Cleaner tool : Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
4. If you are on a Mac, navigate to Applications

Martin,
You could try to reinstall using the full three step way (otherwise strange things may linger):
1) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences),
2) Run the Cleaner Tool, see link below,
3) Reinstall.
http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
The Cleaner Tool works for all versions from CS3 on (you can see it at the top of the page).
Here are instructions for the use, including individual application(s):

Hi
I did the full 3 step thing, did not help....
I find it annoying, that a software package which exists for quite some time now, develops new errors analogue to becoming more and more expensive...
😞

Ingo

Which system?
Is it really version 19.2.1?
Any third party plugins?
Is a printer installed, turned on and set up?
Do you have any unusual hardware attached?
Did you try and close everything else and then launch only Illustrator?
Are all fonts OK?
Do you use any font management and is it updated to the latest version?

Can you turn off the Dropbox? There been issues with it for some people. Just to check if it causes problems for you too.
Also: please check if FontExplorer is the current version. And also try turning its plugin off. It's also known to cause errors
Printers that are assigned on demand might also cause errors with Illustrator. Make sure it has a printer assigned fixed. If there's no other way, use a PDF printer.

Did either of you happen to use the apple migration assistant?
Illustrator crashes on startup

Have you tried all the suggestions in our posts? The more effort you put into your post, the better reply you get.
One of these suggestions many have helped the both the previous posters since they have not come back.

I understand, Mike. If I hadn't tried the suggestions I would not be commenting. There are surprisingly few threads discussing this issues. What's strange is my Adobe Illustrator has worked for quite a few months following a migration assistant process last year and then suddenly today the [SExi] error started to appear. In my preferences folder, many of those files do not exist.
If anyone has found a solution to this, please revisit this and explain your solution.
Thanks!

We had another [SEXi] post where someone used Apple migration assistant and Fix Host BKUP was the solution, but yours was not done recently so not sure and Adobe has not commented on who that bottom line of code changes.
If you did the long way using the cleaner tool should be working as that replaces the 3 suggestions I had. Did you have Illustrator closed when you renamed the folder for the 2 preferences fix, that makes a difference as prefs are stored in Ram, and write themselves when you quit.

Same problem here. Could not start Illustrator anymore, uninstall/cleaning + reinstall -> no success
The problem arose when updating to a new version of illustrator in creative cloud.
Latest version of Illustrator (19.2.1) on El Capitan (10.11.4).
I now restored to an older version from my backups (19.1.0) and that works just fine....
On another computer I have 19.2.1 on El Capitan (10.11.3) and that version is also working fine....
Restarting the mac (Mac Pro) I am working on is not an option since a lot of jobs are running day and night on it for weeks and can't be stopped...

I have this same issue.
SEXI error. Sounds like a virus or a joke.
I didnt do a migration.
My existing and working AI was somehow "forgotten" by my Creative Cloud manager proggy so i couldnt send art from my iPad to AI on my Macbook Pro. So i left the existing and working AI alone and selected install from the app list in CC. It installed a new version of Illustrator over top of the old one and then this stupid ass error shows up that no one knows anything about. Now I'm screwed and have a job to do. Ive had so many time consuming and costly issues with CC I am in shock.
Uninstalling and so forth does nothing. OOBE-Wan-Kanobi flush fails to help....so now what?
Macbook Pro 2012
OS X Yosemite
CC 2015 everything
not a single extra or modification on any apps before or at time of screw up.
Whats SExi error?

Use the force, start you own thread and we can better target this. How much Ram do you have? Yosemite is a good place but you may want to try EL Capitan, as you make the requirements, but tread carefully and backup.
OS X El Capitan - Technical Specifications
I have only seen the Sexi error on 3 occasions and OOBE solved 2 of them, and the preferences the other. In addition would try OM's suggestion of a super clean reinstall
