I am on a time limit with a project I have been working on. For some reason, the trim view is completely greyed out when I select any layer on my artboard. Does anyone have any idea how to fix that so I can use trim view?

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about this trouble. I tried but couldn't replicate this behavior at my end. I would request if you could share a few more details like:
You may also try resetting Illustrator Preferences ( https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html ) and let us know if that resolves the issue.
Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.
We're here to help, just need more info.
Regards,
Srishti

I ran into this issue and realized that I had the artboards hidden (control/command+shift+H). That woudn't let me go to Trim View. Show artboards and it works, for me at least.

I`m having the same issue here.
Trim view worked just fine a few month back, but now it`s greyed out. I`m on Mac latest OS and the latest update of Adobe Illustrator. On Adobe Illustrator 2020 it`s not working either. I`m coming to believe this is related to storage and memory issues.

Hello @robertf46352273,
We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, the exact details of your workflow, if Illustrator behaves this way with all files, public links to sample files after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc., and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3wrqymX), so we can investigate this further?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Anubhav

Command -> Shift -> H
your artboard is hidden - easily done - this fix works!
