Troubleshoot issues with saving files

Hello,

I face the following issue with saving my files in Illustrator:

I open an .ai file and I have adjusted these settings in File Handling:

However, when I save the file either with “Save” or “Save As” the program cannot save my file neither in .ai format

nor in .pdf format. I mean that is can be saved as pdf, but when I open the pdf file in Illustrator it is rasterized and not editable.

Additionally, when I follow the path to “Data Recovery”, the files are not able to open too.

When I save the same file in Creative Cloud though I can open it, but only through Creative Cloud choice. That is to say, when I download the file to my server I still face the above problems.

Can you please help?

I tried that too, but the issue non being able to save the .ai file still remained.

Are you saving to your computer, or somewhere else?

Hi, thank you for answering. I save the files in the company's server, in general. Due the issue that arised (not being able to save them in the server as I usually do), I saved them in Creative Cloud  and they are saved indeed, but the thing is that I need to save them in the server and I can't! Additionally, I tried to save them locally on the PC and couldn't manage to save them either.

You need to copy the file from the server, then open it, make your changes, save the file (on your computer), then copy to the server. This will avoid any issues with the file being open by someone else, or live-saving across a network (never a good idea)...
